» AS Datel invited by Microsoft to present Estonian IT solutions in Hungary

As the single IT-company representing Estonia, AS DATEL, upon invitation from Microsoft, will present their unique information systems made for Estonian government structures today at the yearly conference of European Regional Information Society Association (ERIS@) and Innovative Actions Network for the Information Society (IANIS) in Budapest, capital city of Hungary.

According to AS DATEL's board member Villem Alango, the interest of the participants of the conference in citzen-centered technological applications covering the Republic of Estonia, their development and use, transcends all expectations. Especially valuable are the experiences drawn from this work, which can in a fashion be construed as test results for building the information society. "It is evident that, by acting open-mindedly, something unique and truly valuable has been created in Estonia, generating great interest in other countries as well," he noted. "The synergic cooperation of different parties in Estonia, where, in addition to the government bodies, also the private structures as well as the third sector actively participate in the development of information society, has been highlighted."

Microsoft invited AS DATEL to the prestigeous yearly conference in Hungary with an objective to demonstrate the solutions created by the enterprise to all joining EU countries that face problems similar to Estonia. "Initial contacts with the representatives of other Middle and Eastern European countries have given basis to the belief that even, for example, the citizen portal or the land information system ceated in Estonia, thanks to their ample possibilities and modern structure, are notably competetive and export-worthy," said Alango.

AS DATEL is one of Estonia's leading IT companies, with main purviews in building large-scale information systems and databases. During its 14 years of business, AS DATEL has worked out the software for several main registries of the Republic of Estonia, including the land information system and the building registry, developed the citizen portal, several web-based public services, the X-Roads etc. The consolidated turnover of AS DATEL in 2003 was 7.2 million €.
